In the Storyline: Request data, a data application service is specified. This article describes what a tool must do to perform this service. See also the requirements that the data request tool must meet.

The data request tool has the following functions:

  • registering the data application and the parts of the application

    • the applicant

    • the desired dates

    • the people who should have access to the data

    • the way people want access to the data

    • for which research do they want access?

    • …

  • monitoring and facilitating the progress of the data application

    • register the status of the application

    • informing those involved

      • the data holders of the data and the respective data access committees

      • the applicant

    • ensure that contracts are signed

    • ensure that the data is made available if the application is approved

  • make the application and the outcome of the application transparent to third parties

  • ….
