Generic functions are set up for both care and research &innovation, to prevent fragmentation. 

In order to realize a generic infrastructure for both healthcare and research & innovation, it is important to set up generic functions. These functions must be applicable both in healthcare (primary) and outside (secondary). The generic functions mentioned contribute to reducing fragmentation and promoting interoperability and reusability of data. 

The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport has a directing role in developing these generic functions. The Health-RI ecosystem is in line with the choices made in that process and orchestrates the process so that generic functions provided by third parties can also be used by the nodes for research & innovation.
