DATE: 11-11-2024 STATUS: FOR REVIEW

This article provides an overview of the services offered by Health-RI. Detailed information on each service, including usage instructions, can be found at Health-RI Website.

Health-RI services offers an extensive package of support, tools, training and guidelines, that promote the creation, sharing, and (re)use of high-quality health data. These services assist researchers, healthcare providers, and organizations in adhering to FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and ethical-legal standards (ELSI: Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications).

What is the purpose of Health-RI Services?

The purpose of the Health-RI Services is to support users of the health data infrastructure with the right services. The services are designed to support users with:

  • Sharing data securely and in accordance with laws and regulations.

  • Improving data quality and accessibility through standardized tools and guidelines.

  • Facilitating collaboration between different stakeholders in healthcare.

  • Providing education and support through training and the service desk to make optimal use of our data infrastructure.

A current overview of our services can be found here: Health-RI Services.

Current initiatives:

Health-RI is actively working to expand its services in collaboration with partners. Ongoing initiatives include:

  • Development of a national health data portal, where services are accessible and easy to use.

  • Growth in the number of available services, offered both centrally and in a federated manner.

  • Expansion of the training portfolio in partnership with external organizations.

  • Establishment of a central service desk to provide support.

The different Services:

Service management
Health-RI service management ensures the management and optimization of the services that are offered. Due to new developments within the health data infrastructure, services are being phased out and new services are being introduced.

Based on periodic risk assessments, organizational and technical measures are taken to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of the entrusted data. We do this with control measures such as information security policy, access control, ID and access management, and risk management.

Due to the nature of the Health-RI services, which are provided in a federated environment, a customized quality management system for compliant security is required. This has been implemented in our QMS-CS.

National Health Data Portal
The Health-RI portal is the central place where users can access all the services that Health-RI offers. On the portal you will find, among other things, the national health data catalog, tools, training courses, and the Health-RI central service desk.

Trainings
The aim of the training courses within Health-RI is to support users, such as researchers, data experts, and citizens, in the efficient and responsible use of health data and to help develop skills around data management, compliance with regulations, and promoting collaboration in research. The training courses ensure that users become familiar with the infrastructure, tools, and processes of Health-RI, so that they can optimally use them in their own work or research.

Central Service Desk
The Central Service Desk is for all users of the National Health Data Infrastructure. It offers users support with general questions as well as expert support for specific issues such as ELSI, connecting data to the national health data catalogue, and requesting data from the national health data catalogue.

User panel
The aim of a User Panel at Health-RI is to collect feedback from various user groups, such as researchers, data experts, healthcare professionals, and patient organizations. These panels help tailor Health-RI's services to the needs of users. During the sessions, which are aligned with current developments, users give their opinion on topics such as the usability of the data infrastructure. This process contributes to a user-oriented development of services, which makes the solutions match the expectations and acceptance of end users.
