Data exchange platform
This article describes the data exchange platform. The data exchange platform is managed by the databroker and enables data to be delivered upon request, as described in the Storyline: Data delivery.
The data exchange platform function
The data exchange platform supports the Storyline: Data delivery. After a data request has been approved and the necessary contracts have been concluded, any data holder can provide the requested data to the data exchange platform, after which only authorized data users can retrieve or use it in a secure processing environment. The data exchange platform makes it possible to create temporary cohorts and connect data from different sources, so that it can then be released to a secure processing environment.
Data exchange platform requirements
Data type agnostic
The platform is suitable for all types of datasets such as CSVs, genome data and medical images.
Interoperability
The platform offers standardized APIs that enable:
Data can be placed on the Data Exchange Platform by authorized persons using various upload tools (e.g. Filezilla, rclone, etc).
Data can be imported from an analysis environment with the appropriate tools.
Storage capacity
The environment must be suitable for large amounts of data (from 10 TB).
Security requirements
The data exchange platform is suitable for storing and sharing highly confidential data
Data can be issued to the platform via a secure connection.
Data can be retrieved from the platform via a secure connection.
The owner of the datasets per study is the PI and he provides access (if not through a delegated person).
Preferably, data can only be deleted and/or downloaded after approval of the PI.
Access is only granted per study (research project) to persons authorized for the study.
The data exchange platform uses the Identification and authentication service to identify and authenticate data users.
