Step 7. Outreach
status: in development
Short description
Engaging the broader community during and after the development of a domain-specific metadata schema requires deliberate strategies to ensure collaboration, feedback, and (long-term) adoption of the schema.
Deliverables
Deliverable | Description |
---|---|
Stakeholder analysis | Identify core users, stakeholders and networks. Engage domain-specific organizations, consortiums, and funders to mandate or encourage schema usage |
Consultation meetings / surveys | Regularly solicit for feedback via surveys or comment periods during schema drafts |
Collaboration platform | Use platforms like GitHub for schema development to allow transparent contributions and documentation |
Hackatons / workshops | Host hands-on events to refine the schema collaboratively or to onboard datasets into the catalogue |
Training / documentation | Offer webinars, guidelines, and examples about the metadata schema including the why, what and how to use it. Clearly communicate how the metadata schema will address challenges like findability, interoperability, reuse, etc. |
(Scientific) Article | Publish an article describing the schema and its development process |
